$28.63
Size: 8.5" x 11"
Binding: Perfect Bound
ISBN: 9781637904312
This volume tells the story of the author's early life, from his birth on July 20, 1945 until his family relocated before his 16th birthday from California to Reno, Nevada in 1961. The narrative roughly follows a chronological sequence, but not rigidly, because it subdivides the sequence into categories that sometimes meld into the whole timespan of the story. The audience for the book is mostly family, but anyone interested in what it was like to grow up mostly in a small (at that time) northern California community followed by four years in San Francisco may also find the story of interest. Interwoven throughout the narrative are many photographs and supplemental documents from the aut ...

The Clawson and Thompson families arrived in Elko County, Nevada in the late 1800s. Agnes Thompson Clawson bought an inexpensive camera and photographed her family and the scenes of life around the different locations in which she and her family lived. Agnes's younger brother-in-law, Ray Clawson, began taking photographs of his own about a decade later. The photographs in this book are mostly from Agnes Clawson's collection, but Ray's have been selectively added when the subject matter complements Agnes's images. The limited narrative in the form of image annotations is based on Agnes Clawson's grandson Arthur Clawson's research and documentation, as well as his own and his younger broth ...

This is the second volume that tells the story of my life as a firefighter for the federal Bureau of Land Management (BLM), mostly in Alaska. Volume II covers the years 1979 through the 1984; volume I covers the years 1973 to 1978. The first person text traces my experiences and observations chronologically and relies on both original source materials and on personal memories. I have included many color photographs to supplement the text and provide a visual historical reference that would otherwise be missing from a purely textual account. The book may have the greatest appeal to firefighters past and present, but it may also appeal to individuals interested in a very specific segment o ...

My wife and I traveled to Scotland in May 2022. This book tells the story of that visit in a sequential narrative heavily fortified by many color photographs and supplemental background information gleaned from many sources encountered on our journey. We spent four days in North Berwick, East Lothian, Scotland, and hired a personal guide for three of those days. His contributions enrich the story. The body of our visit was participation in a traditional music and history tour of Scotland's Borders, the Isle of Arran, and part of Argyll. The emphasis on traditional music finds voice in frequent siting of traditional ballad lyrics. This book should appeal to a broader audience than family ...

My grandfather, Otis L. The notebook means less by itself than as a supplement to the book of Otis's letters to his family from October 1918 to July 1919. The letters have been published in book form as The Letters of Otis L. Linn With the Y.M.C.A. in France Serving the American Expeditionary Force 1918 & 1919. This book is also available from The Book Patch bookstore.
