Originally written by Fr. Cletus La Mere in 1963 as part of his thesis towards a Master's Degree in American History (Catholic University of America), it was later republished in part by Fr. Martinus Cawley OCSO of the Trappist Abbey in Lafayette, Oregon in 1996 for the Sesquicentennial of the Archdiocese of Portland. This is Fr. Cawley's edition, along with his appendices. This volume also includes never-before-published photographs from Fr. Felix's archived collection, many of which he took himself. Fr.
