During my growing up years on the farm in the 1940s and 1950s, there were no electronic devices to occupy us, no television or even plastic toys. Back in 1972, international travel was not nearly as common as it is today, especially for young people. But I was chosen to chaperone and speak for a Youth for Christ evangelistic singing team, The Mighty Wind, as they traveled overseas for a few months. We sang and spoke to a couple hundred thousand people of all ages in schools, colleges, churches, open air and in other facilities. This is an account of the highlights and trials of 6 young folks performing and living together under a stressful schedule.

In early 1972 Youth for Christ sponsored a singing tour of various foreign countries for the group, The Mighty Wind. I served as a young 26 year old chaperone on the tour and spoke to thousands of people about the undeserved gift Christ offers us. One of the young women who arranged our itinerary in Brisbane, Australia was a vivacious, beach suntanned blond girl who was the assistant to the regional director of Youth for Christ.
