After graduating from the College of Wooster in 1967, Roger Williamson enlisted in the US Army knowing that his path would likely lead to the jungles of Vietnam. By 1968 he ended up there as an Advisor to the Army of the Republic of Vietnam. Even far from home, his connection to his family and friends remained strong. So many letters from the people he loved -especially his Mom- kept him encouraged. He wrote often offering bland details of the war to keep his family from worrying about his safety. His stories show the fear, frustration, anger and sometimes humorous situations he encountered as a young Lieutenant in an increasingly unpopular war.
