Austin Scola, a seasoned homicide detective who experiences periods of psychotic blackouts, is assigned the high-profiled case of the murder of the daughter of a powerful businessman. During the course of his investigation, Austin discovers that he is actually the killer. Austin must cover his own tracks for a murder he doesn't even remember committing.

Objective: Freedom launched the series Freedoms Objective. It won the international award for best new novel of 2013. It was closely followed by six sequels. The characters remain basically the same but change as the years go on. War, fun, love, travel, adventure, economic wrangling and a couple of characters right out of the old horse operas make for fun and relaxation in an otherwise tense situation. Now, we will learn where all of these different characters started. In this story heroes are made and careers are wrecked. Foreign travel and adventure lure you to exotic places. The military and diplomatic stories play a big part, but so do the human interest and attempts at intrigue.

13 Green Dragons is a really great old-school action-thriller but offers up newer literary touches to the genre with much greater character perspectives and depth of feeling. A young man heading to war to do his duty, injured almost to the point of death and awarded the nation’s highest military honor but veering away from publicity. There can be more than a touch of cliché with titles like this but Lobeck always maintains a high standard of writing and stays away from tried and tested methods of gaining a reader’s trust and plows new ground in a soon to be a modern classic.
