David Gedney has been writing poetry and song lyrics for roughly 50 years. He grew up in Goldens Bridge, New York and graduated from John Jay High School, Cross River, NY, class of 1963. After a four year active Navy hitch during the Vietnam War where he served with NATO he was honorably discharged. A collection of drawings and poems was created to fill the days during COVID. Imagining all the things Senese would like to be, keeps her mind happy. In sharing these ideas she hopes you can enjoy thinking about things you want to be.

With Visionary Intent is a poetry chapbook inspired by Afro-Futurism and dipped in cynicism. The poems in this chapbook explore the apparent contradiction of being Black in America and being Happy, all flavored by ruminations about gender, sexuality, autonomy of the body, and the very nature of humanity itself. This chapbook is, as all poetry should be, a poet's examination and diagnosis of the world around them, and also, perhaps, a mirror in which most people can see themselves reflected. The hope is that it can strike a chord in people and maybe produce meaningful change in someone's life.

This poetry collection recounts many of the moments of wonder I have experienced in life. I hope that these encounters and musings may cause you to wonder. That they may spark you to share -- and to explore -- your own awe (whether shocking, painful, breath-taking, or infuriating), because life is filled with moments of WONDER.

This is a chapbook of poems focusing mostly on sad subjects such as depression, loneliness, and the inner conflict that comes with them. It was created to bring awareness to the reality of mental illnesses and to comfort those who know it all too well.
