About The Author
Author bio image
Lekiha was born and raised in Galveston, Texas. She loves God and recognizes the amazing blessings upon her life. She’s a mother, an author, a poet, and an abstract artist; as well as, a former Texas Peace Officer with 21 years in law enforcement. She retired in 2015 due to a rare autoimmune disease called Myositis.

Lekiha has been writing for more than half her life with poetry being a form of therapy for her. She often says her writing is her voice when she couldn’t speak. She’s had a strong faith in God most of her life; though she started journaling her prayers more often after becoming disabled. Prior to becoming disabled Lekiha worked full time and was a full time student. She received her BA in Maritime Studies and Anthropology from Texas A&M University in 2015 while struggling with Myositis; as well as, raising her family, "The busyness of my life didn't afford me the time to sit still, oh but what an amazingly merciful and graceful God we serve." As Lekiha’s mobility became more challenged with Myositis she leaned on and developed a stronger relationship with God. When she thought she lost everything she began to understand who and what her everything truly was. It wasn't until now, "in my waiting period," she describes it, that God touched her heart to use the gifts and talents he blessed her with and though she still faces challenges with Myositis (the weaken, painful, aching and breakdown of muscles) her spiritual faith is strong. Her daily prayers include walking in the will of God for her life and that she reflects the amazing light of God to others.
