Book Synopsis
Ancestral Recipes: From Your Grandmother’s Kitchen to Yours is a cookbook designed with community for community. This cookbook is tailored for Latinx immigrant communities and is available in English, Spanish, and Purépecha. Our goal was to bring the traditions and health of pre-Hispanic cuisine into your home. The recipes were inspired by the three sisters: corn, bean, and squash—the diet of our Mesoamerican ancestors and MyPlate- USDA food and nutrition guidelines. The cookbook includes 45 recipes that have been reviewed by healthcare professionals, researchers, and community members to ensure quality and appropriateness for Latinx families and communities. These recipes are intended for healthy lifestyle choices and chronic disease prevention.
