Could not put it down. Humorous, Tragic, Insightful.

My thanks go out to the writer for his dedication and service but more importantly his willingness to share his experiences with us. This view of the tragedy of 9/11 is not one often heard. The majority of the publicity goes to the brave men and women that lost their lives, or searched through the rubble at ground zero. Too often the incredible number of volunteers that worked behind the scenes as Detective Shirk did goes unnoticed, and oftentimes is the hardest to cope with as individuals. You will truly gain a new understanding of those that served.

Thanks you for sharing.

The author writes his book as though he was telling his story to an old friend. Be prepared to settle in until you turn the last page. Sanford artfully weaves his childhood, dreams and failures, as God prepares him for his calling in forensic science with his service behind the scenes of the tragedy of 9/11. His recounting of his time in New York gives us insight into the human side of what happened on that terrible day. This story is alternately amusing, horrifying, informative, sorrowful and uplifting. What might have been a dark telling is handled with a lot of grace and hope. I, for one, am so appreciative that Sanford stepped through each door as God opened it and has shared his story for all of us to be touched so profoundly.
