Join The Treasure Team on their summer adventure. Jay Sepulvado, his sister Amy, and their cousin “Peppermint” Paddie from Shreveport team up with Jo Castie in Ebarb, Louisiana. They are on the trail of the hidden treasure their Uncle Tee Procell talked about. Now Uncle Tee is seriously ill. Will they find anything of value—well, besides hot tamales, the Cryin’ Woman, and Indian lore—in time?
The team of four children gather clues to the treasure from elders in the Zwolle-Ebarb community. The stories they hear are taken word-for-word from actual oral history collected by author Mary van Rheenen and Janet Shoemaker while doing research for the Choctaw-Apache Tribe of Ebarb in the mid-1980s.
