Stolen Identity

This book’s content really touched me and has made me see things differently. I truly believe that’s what a good book makes on you after reading it. I was RoShawn’s classmate for one semester and I definitely can’t believe how all this tragedy happened to him, but what really car has my attention is RoShawn’s reaction to all this problem: Always putting God first and keeping going. I told him in private but now I make it public: RoShawn, you’ve got my respects and admiration! Such a great book to let everyone see the kind of Justice System this country has.

This man has been through so much. I could not put this book down. Read it all in a few hours. I cannot imagine how hard this must have been for him. This is a must read. Trust me you will not want to put this book down. I pray that RoShawn gets the justice he deserves. Keep on fighting for justice.

It was an honor meeting Mr. Evans last night. In a matter of hours I purchased and read his book. It had me at "The Beginning." I hope you "Mr. Evans" get the justice you deserve and for the real law breakers who made your life as difficult as it was, they some day feel that raft. Keep striving and thanks for sharing your knowledge and your story. You truly are my type of all American hard working, smart man! Good luck and I wish you all the success!

I don't know you personally, but you are a trooper. It appears you have been handling this situation well. Just keep doing what you are doing, hold your head high and keep fighting. I'm sure all will be OK. Great read. Now I'm waiting to see what happens next.

I was asked to provide feedback on the book, Stolen Identity. It is a good personal story. The opening pages make bold statements about society in general and the fate of one specific segment of society vulnerable to institutional practices which provide unequal justice and even slant the outcomes to the disadvantage of particularly young Black males.

The book strives to comment on institutional racism and societal socioeconomic and political issues particular in regards to law and criminal justice concerns. While attempting to address structural problems the book ties in personal experience which provides a face for some of the problems which are covered. The legacy of slavery and its impact on the psychological health and social interactions within the African American community is also cast to provide context for the behaviors within the community which seem to work against the interests of that community.

My impression is that the book is aimed at presenting an individual story along with an accompanying plea for assistance on the individual level and of the community level to break the cycle or practice of damaging behaviors by law enforcement, judges, prosecutors and court-appointed attorneys. Plea bargaining is shown to present choices among many lose-lose propositions. The defendant in this case a minor treated as an adult, is unable to discern the long-term consequences of the plea which is entered.

Future employment prospects and choices for residence are restricted by what eventually becomes to be regarded as a regrettable decision, to lie to provide guarantee of lesser sentence and avoiding difficulty of proving innocence.

I liked the personal story. The protagonist tried to work in his own best interest while making regrettable mistakes along the way. Betrayal of friends, acquaintances, family, etc. further hamper the protagonists' efforts to secure a better life. It feels as though the protagonist is overwhelmed by the overall weight of factors, circumstances, people, and institutional problems that limit his life choices in some respects while guiding life's choices into un-navigable waters and legal spider webs.
Dealing with issues inside the Black community and inside the family household while also being subject to the jurisdiction of the legal system, the protagonist is outnumbered by forces working against him. One step forward and acquisition of an ally or two is offset quickly by opposing forces and situations.

Great Read

I hate to see people going through so much. This book was deep. I enjoyed it from the beginning to the end. I literally didn’t want to put the book down.

I read this book ( I couldn’t put it down )my heart Just broke reading all RoShawn C. Evans had been through since being 17 It’s hard to believe that no one stepped up to undo this injustice. I truly pray that he find someone that truly has his back and will help him clear his name and in my opinion the girl and her mother should be in jail for what and how they destroyed his life all these years. There are a lot of people in Michigan and Texas who all played a part in this who need to be held accountable for this. I pray that he continues to fight to clear his name.

I know we has/have a cross(s) for all of us to bare, this cross that this young man carries/carried I would be dead at the beginning. God is using him to help other, only God knew he could have gone go and gone though what he have for to help and better others in the justice system!

My God, this is an awesome young man I finished reading his book! What attracted me to his table, that number on his cover. Being an Criminal Justice Degree Major my nosy and articulate skills. This is his shirt and book I’m posting with that I purchase! The next day running my mouth. Running my mouth with two mall quests outside the Ballroom they question me about the shirt, where he came out at my request and sold another book. He asked to take this picture.

Our short time in conversations I touch on things I had no idea of what’s in his book. He said, at one time, “Ms. Mary out of respect some parts might make you sick “, as to say keep reading till the end as this statement register! Wish I had finished before 5/28/2018 2:30 am.

I finished this book. It was disturbing. Yet, I couldn’t put it down. In the last chapter, I was waiting for the conclusion. Then again, I do remember RoShawn C. Evans telling me a sequel was coming out! My prayer is that he forgives his mother and himself. Let the Lord order the footsteps. Psalm 119:133-136

Before I started reading Stolen Identity I had a question about the cover what did 1953521 had to do with this book. I let that go and started reading Stolen Identity it grabbed my attention really fast when I read What Kind Of American? The Beginning is so realistic and educational. I've lived in the south all my life I know segregation and I live racism in the 50's until today. I did not put this book down until the last word. My mind developed questions as I got deeper into Stolen Identity. The more reading I did my questions were answered. My first question became very clear to me RoShawn C. Evans has become 1953521. I've found it so upsetting that one little girl can leave home to spent time with a young boy and get caught going back inside could take someone's life as they knew it. The same people who help you and knew you were a good person also knew the people who were trying to bring you down. This young has seen problems that some adults could not handle, I'm one of those adults. I question how would a young boy continue living when his own mother calls the police on him. This is a remarkable book of an Identity stolen from a young boy before he really knew who is was or will be family and friends and the justice department tried to destroy him, but here he is today RoShawn C. Evans a power house.
