Book Synopsis
John McHenry emigrated from northern Ireland to New York state (somewhere between 1729-1739) and later moved into Pennsylvania. Their sons were early settlers in Northumberland County (the current Columbia County). John McHenry and four of his sons served in the American Revolution.
This book is a history of John and Susannah (McNeal) McHenry and continues with the genealogy of two of their sons (Daniel and Thomas) and their descendants, and mentions John’s other seven children. It contains the family’s coat of arms and biographies of many descendants and some interesting anecdotes, as well as articles on relevant topics such as the Fishing Creek Confederacy. The book was written and published in 1950 by May McHenry and Torrence McHenry (two cousins who collaborated on the book).
