Book Synopsis
“Not only had he walked away and been absent all these years already, but the one time I reached out to him, begging to be loved, begging to be wanted, begging to feel worthy, he said no. This wasn’t an "I’m-busy-this-weekend" no, this was a "you-are-not-worthy-of-my-time" no. …… He never contacted me after that. He never attempted to make it right. If I misunderstood, he never attempted to help me to understand. He was the adult. He made that choice. He had control. I was just his little broken girl, who would go through the next twenty years trying to figure out why he didn’t love me.”

Very well written memoir. Powerful & insightful into trauma and the repercussions of it throughout life. Miss Wilkie dove deep into her life, giving example after example of the effects of it. I myself learned very much about the cause and effect of things that happen to us and how they can spiral. I learned how to better maneuver or handle future upcomings in my own life. Very deep book. I literally read it in an entire day it held my interest so much. I took a lot from this book and will use it to better my choices in certain circumstances. I hope you will too.

There were so many times while reading this book that truly resonated with me. Erica successfully connects with the reader in an unforgettable way. Much in the way an older sibling or friend would give accounts of life experiences, the good, the bad, and the traumatic. It's so brave to put your life decisions out there for the world to see. I am proud of your #nofuckstogive.

I bought this book with the intention of supporting an old friend. I grew up living next door to the author and although we were childhood friends, we lost touch over the years only to reconnect several years later on social media. I was curious to know what happened over all those years.
I was pleasantly surprised to see that not only is the book an extremely easy and engaging read, but it is also an amazing brave and therapeutic testimony of the many trials and tribulations of her life. She unapologetically recounts many of her life experiences and puts forth the message that it is perfectly ok to be a “work in progress”. I strongly recommend this book!

This book is raw, powerful, and totally f-ing unfiltered! Ms. Wilke is unapologetic in exposing her life story... her traumas and how they impacted her decisions... her flaws, her mistakes, and her triumphs.
I started reading "Maybe I Should Have Been Louder" on a warm, sunny Saturday morning and I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN! I read the whole book in one day, abandoning all hopes of getting anything else done. I loved it!
You will find yourself crying with her, swearing at her, but mostly rooting for her.
Just read it for yourself. Trust me, you'll be glad you did.
Remember... it's okay to be a work in progress!

About The Author
Erica Wilkie is not a NY Times Bestselling author. She doesn’t spend hours penning fantastic works of literary art. She is just a 40-year old mom from the Midwest with a story to tell. She spends most of her time watching Netflix and eating Swedish Fish. This is the most ambitious thing she’s ever done. She hopes you enjoy reading it as much as she enjoyed writing it.

Erica can be found on Facebook sharing videos of cute cats, and memes about women’s rights, equality, and self-love. She is a master selfie-taker. She sometimes hops over to Instagram when Facebook gets boring, but she doesn’t post much there. She doesn’t understand Twitter. All correspondence is giddily appreciated, however, if you have negative things to say about the book, that’s kind of pointless…since it’s already been written. Like mom always said, “If you don’t have anything nice to say…”
