Book Synopsis

This is the story of how love gave my life prison. I'm serving hard time and maybe I deserve it.

Love is, Life in Prison is a collection of poetry that is both gut wrenching and anecdotal. It is also a story of triumph. Have you been drunk, sick and sober in love, have you been screaming for love, or just wanted to jump off of a ledge because of love? Then this book is for you. This is the perfect read for those who have ever come close enough to being hopelessly, powerfully overtaken by love.

This book is riveting! You’ll find yourself wrapped in the pages wondering how the author was able to capture a moment of your life so perfectly. This author reminds us throughout the book that heartbreak does not allow for us to give up on love. She continues to persevere and to believe in love. And, then to my surprise the book takes a very sexy turn as the author sells us on the idea of love again with the intimate little details of her sex life. This is a must read as in you, yeah you over there you must read it! Trust me, you’ll regret it if you don’t.

To the author of this amazing book,

Thank you for sharing your heartbreak, your decision to stay the course and pieces of your new found love with us. Your vulnerability is exactly what poetry is. Reading this work allows for readers to feel like they know you, it gives us something and someone to relate to and it allows us to lose ourselves in the pages. I will always be grateful for a good book and this is one of the greatest. Keep on writing!

Love is, Life in Prison was by far one of the best collections of poetry I have read in in the last 5 years. It had my emotions all over the map! I was smiling, crying, mad, and blushing from chapter to chapter. I felt as though I was there, this trial of love that Taisha Guy speaks of, I was present. There was such a sense of transparent vulnerability that one can’t resist but to be drawn in and that I was. “Man on a ledge” was the climax in my opinion simply because it illustrates love taking over one’s mind to the point where you’re so far out there that you feel there is not turning back. I am not even going to mask that my heart wasn’t racing while reading this. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I was there.

We’ve all been in that relationship that turns our world upside down but not all of us can transfer those feeling into words and put those words on paper but this author has mastered that and I was left wanting more. This is poetry at its finest and let’s not get into the ridiculously intriguing use of analogy to love and all the different emotions it brings. Well done Taisha Guy. I am anxiously awaiting what literature you have in store for the future.
