Book Synopsis
What was it like growing up, in the 50's, 60's and 70's, on a small farm in Indiana? In this collection of memories Chuck Huseman describes the joys and difficulties that he encountered. The Huseman family began raising Angus cattle in 1910 on a small farm in Northwest Indiana. The generations that followed were all tied to the farm, and to the cattle, in ways that some family members found hard to realize. As time went on, the family grew and many moved away from the farm. One descendant stayed put to continue the tradition of Homestead Farm and the great Angus cattle. The story of his family, through the years, is one of facing many changes in agriculture, the economy, the population surrounding the farm and in the family itself. It is a story of valuing a legacy, and a way of life, and working to preserve it.
