So good to see this wonderful book available again. It will enlighten and astound many people to learn how music was made and recorded waaaaay back in the last century-- when musicians and artists and producers all created together- in the same room, at the same time !

An exceptionally well researched and written history of the Bay Area Recording scene. A great read, Ms.Johnson hits the ball out of the park with this one!
About The Author
Heather R. Johnson interviewed hundreds of recording artists, producers and engineers as a leading professional audio journalist from 1999 to 2009. During that time, she wrote for Mix, Electronic Musician, EQ, Audio Media and Performing Songwriter, among others. Thompson Course Technology published If These Halls Could Talk in 2006. In the years to follow, she watched some of the S.F. Bay Area's preeminent recording studios convert to condominiums and Airbnbs. In an effort to keep her home's history from getting lost in the rubble, she republished this book on her own. She now lives and works as a copywriter in Oakland, California.
