Jamell Crouthers’ Book, I Woke Up A Black Man guides readers through everyday life from the perspective of black men, a reality that many may not even be able to imagine unless, like the main character, they have no choice but to live in it.

This book is a great read for just touching the basics of the black experience! In this creative fiction it hits a little home because it’s all in all reality. Engaging and an easy read for anyone looking to expand their consciousness of the hardships POC endure.

I just finished reading this book and I found it to be very interesting and a great read. Jamell has truly inspired me and made me aware that there is still a lot of Racism out there and his book is on point about it.

This is one of those books that should be required reading for everyone. As one sided as it seems, it really isn't. If you are black, then you already know what it is like. If not, then this book is for you. This is an accurate report/reflection on the truth. Read it, understand it and make it for the future.

It's insightful and gives a varied experience of being a black man in America. Yes, we are tired and angry but mostly drained of life force energy. Keep up the good work.

Eric, a white man one day wakes up and is now a black man and experiences what his friend, Warren experiences on a daily basis. A very powerful and jaw dropping book.
