I scoff, “what are you talking about? I am not insecure. Why should I be?”
He shrugs, “I have no idea, but you are. I can tell. Whenever I talk to you and your friends are around you look at them for approval. You care what people think of you and you want to be liked by everyone whose opinion matters. And of course you don’t care about my feelings nearly as much because if I hate you it doesn’t matter. Mean girls like them might think it makes you cooler to have ditched the ‘disabled kid’.”
Instantly my heart starts pounding so quickly that I think I might have a heart attack. “You act like you know everything about me,” I say.
“Not everything,” he says, “but I know a lot. I watch everything and I hear more than you’d think. If I died tomorrow nobody would ever know how much I knew about them...”
