GNOME – by definition, your eyes may have glanced over this title and remember those dwarfish–looking garden & lawn ornaments with long beards and pointed hats. Historically, a gnome is a mythical creature and diminutive spirit in Renaissance magic and alchemy. An ageless and often deformed being who lives in the earth and usually guards golden treasure and other valuable objects.
Fast–forward to today its symbolic meaning states a person who works by using their mind, but does not talk to, and is not known by the public.
For this book, gnome is defined as a statement encapsulating a general truth; a maxim. This collection of poems or sonnets (whatever you want to call them), has undergone much scrutiny by the author and may have never been published.
In a world where it gets harder to speak the truth, one inevitably must go through trials and tribulations, pitfalls and downfalls, chaos and confusion, worry and indetermination, obstacles and stumbling blocks resulting in "pain."
