Book Synopsis
This is the second volume that tells the story of my life as a firefighter for the federal Bureau of Land Management (BLM), mostly in Alaska. Volume II covers the years 1979 through the 1984; volume I covers the years 1973 to 1978. The first person text traces my experiences and observations chronologically and relies on both original source materials and on personal memories. I have included many color photographs to supplement the text and provide a visual historical reference that would otherwise be missing from a purely textual account. The book may have the greatest appeal to firefighters past and present, but it may also appeal to individuals interested in a very specific segment of history, especially of Alaska history.
