Funny and fascinating, my mother takes you on a journey through medieval Europe through the eyes of a teenage girl (Alysoun) who is at times both mortified and proud of her larger than life aunt Alys (inspired by the "Wife of Bath"). It strikes a chord now in 2021 as we struggle with a pandemic and the characters are celebrating the survival of their town and a few family members from the Black Death, yet face the ongoing specter of the plague. Their journey tests the pilgrims and the wheat is separated from the chaff, the heroines and heroes from the villains with unexpected challenges at their destination.
