As a teacher, I so enjoyed the dialogue and critical thinking skills this series brings to the reader of this book. Dodi has done a wonderful job in blending a story that connects you to the innocence, emotional and intellectual awakening that children have at different stages of development. The author has done a great job in bringing the social awareness about issues in our past, present and future human culture. The book lends itself to lessons and discussion about: division of society and separation of groups, the control of life-enriching foods, the importance of water and a multitude of other importance discussions to have with our children. This book, like The Giver allow us as adults to guide our children to look at humanity and discuss issues that need our focus. With love and openness, we can work together to encourage discussion of differing viewpoints, thoughts, ideas and desires. We can talk about the commonality and influence of religious beliefs or our understanding of the universe. Dodi has written a series to encourage just that, and I cannot wait to read the next book in the series and what path is chosen by Adahm and his family.

Adahm's Apples is a fast paced, nail-biting story that audiences young and old can thoroughly enjoy! The author really harnesses her talent to pull you into the story immediately and surround you with interesting and complex details, keeping you enthralled in Adahm's dystopian world.

After the passing of his mother and mysterious disappearance of his father, Adahm is tasked with the care for his two sisters, one of whom is very ill. One day, while tentatively caring for his family and their "farm", trouble comes knocking. This unexpected visitor, paired with his youngest sister's recent mischievousness and curiosity, sets into motion a series of exciting and frightening events that bring the children to question their perception of right and wrong...and the beginning of a very remarkable friendship.

Adahm's Apples is a book to be wholly cherished, and it is so relevant in this day and age. It brings up so many important discussions about our health, communities, and our own morality. My 11 year old daughter read the whole thing in one day, she was so enraptured! It is an absolute work of art!
