Book Synopsis
The author begins with a discussion of the DNA mapping of his genetics to establish his authenticity as an Irishman with roots as a member of the Clan Dál gCais or sons of Cas. The ancient histories put together by monks and scribes from the oral Celtic Druid teaching in the period of 700 to 1000 AD are interpreted to lead the reader from Scythia in about 1200 BC via the Phoenicians (The Sea People) to the North African territory of Cyrenaica in about 1000 BC; at about the time of Pharaoh Ramses II. These Celts in Cyrenaica became an ally of Carthage’s about 700 BC. About 500 BC with the support of Carthage they invaded Galicia following the exploratory voyage of Himilco north along the Atlantic coast of present-day Spain. They established a colony at Corunna, Galicia, in north-western Spain; from there they invaded southern Ireland in about 352 BC backed by the naval might of Carthage. The objective of Carthage was to exploit the known sources of Irish silver, gold, tin and copper. These invading Celts were the Eirean or Clan-na-Mile (the sons of Milesius). They established three colonies; at Glengariff on Bantry Bay (the Clan Corca), at Cobh or Cork (the Clan Eóganacht) and at Waterford (the Clan Déisi). The Clan Déisi evolved into the Clan Déis Tuascirt and became the Clan Dál gCais descending from Cormac Cas second son of Olioll Olum, King of Munster (born 147; died 234 AD). The name Kennedy originates from Cinnéide (Cennetig) maic Lorcain [King of Thomond (North Munster)] born circa 896 AD. This book traces the Kennedy family in great detail through its pinnacle of power in the 17th Century up to the present time, concluding with the genealogy of the author.
