The Youth Farmers Market program in Denver, CO has been very successful in connecting the community with school garden programs. This Handbook shares the educational philosophy and community support model behind a successful YFM program. The Handbook is a resource for parents, teachers, community members and others who are interested in starting or improving YFM programs in their schools. YFM programs have been shown to be a successful response to communities that are challenged with a source of local, fresh produce. YFM programs are also successful fundraising tools for the sustainability of school gardens. The Denver model shows how several community groups have come together to build a successful YFM model in over 30 schools in a metro area.
