Book Synopsis
China’s recent ascend as the second largest economy has increased the interest of foreign countries on how to do business effectively with the Chinese. However, Westerners and the Chinese have different cultures and philosophies that influence their different approaches, models and styles during international business negotiations. To this end, differences in cultures, socio-economic and political perspectives demand differences in the approach to how people negotiate. These differences, which also provides the framework for this study, involves cultures, cultural dimensions, cultural dynamics, country-specific culture and philosophies, global influences, consequences of cultural global influences, emotional intelligence, cultural intelligences, differences in communication principles, and negotiation styles in international business; which also includes differences in negotiation tactics, conflict management styles, negotiation processes and strategies, reciprocity, and so on. Therefore, this study will focus on two primary topics, culture and Chinese negotiation styles that influence Chinese negotiation styles in international business negotiations.

About The Author
Dr. José Aníbal Torres, known in China as Dr. Tang Lv, has a Doctorate in Business Administration with a concentration in International Business. Further, a M.S. in Strategic Leadership, and a B.S. in Business & Economics. Dr. Torres is an International Multilingual Executive, Professor, Author, Presenter, Speaker, Lecturer and Scholar; with over 30 years of total P&L (electronics, mechanical, chemical and environmental industries) senior level executive leadership experience of MNCs; leading global sales & marketing, multi-manufacturing plant operations, global human resources, global supply chain, international accounting, engineering, quality, R&D, services, and so on. Further, Dr. Torres has taught at various US and China universities; Bachelors, Masters, D.B.A., and PhD programs in international business, management, leadership, and research. Dr. Torres has additional experience in higher education administration, and curriculum development for graduate and doctoral level courses. Specific to China, Dr. Torres has over 20 years of direct business and education experience doing business in China, and as a Professor in China. In December, 2012 Dr. Torres was Conferred China's Egret Friendship Award in Xiamen. The award was conferred to Dr. Jose Anibal Torres after contributions to Xiamen, Fujian Province, PRC’s economy and society, and so on.
